Navia Dratp Frequently Asked Questions (Created: November 15, 2004 - Last Updated: March 28, 2005) Movement 1. Can a Maseitai move to any yellow square indicated on its compass, even if there are Battle Pieces in intervening squares? A: Yes, aS long as you are not using Enhanced Movement. 2. When a Battle Piece attempts to "line over", must it "line over" into an empty square in the Maseitai Keep? A: You may line over regardless of whether or not any space in the Keep is occupied. However, only Gulled and Navia can perform a "line over." 3. Do Gulled performing “line over” collect their regular Gyullas for moving in addition to the 10 Gyullas or Maseitai return bonus? A: No. You don't count the movement bonus of red or black Gulled when they perform a line over to move over the end line. Only 10 Gyullas or Maseitai returned from the Graveyard is awarded. 4. When a Battle Piece is moved as the result of another Maseitai's ability, can you Dratp it or use its Invoke ability? A: No, movement of a Battle Piece by another Battle Piece’s ability is not considered movement. 5. When a Gulled is moved by a Maseitai’s ability (such as Billpentod), do you earn Gyullas? A: You do not earn Gyullas, but if such a movement results in a Battle Piece being taken, you do earn Gyullas. 6. Can you move one Battle Piece and Dratp another? A: No, you may only Dratp the Battle Piece you move. 7. Can you move a Battle Piece capture another Battle Piece and then Dratp? --- A: Yes. You may even use the Gyullas earned by capturing that Battle Piece to pay for the cost of Dratping. 8. Can you use an Invoke effect without moving that Masetai? A: Yes, as long as you don't move AFTER using the Invoke effect. Dratping 1. When a Battle Piece is sent to the Graveyard, does its compass "reset"? A: Whenever a Battle Piece is sent off the Battlefield (to either the Graveyard or Maseitai Keep) it "un-dratps" if it was "dratped." 2. Can you select one of your Battle Pieces and dratp it, without actually moving it at all that turn, as your action for that turn? A: Yes, you may choose a Battle Piece and dratp it without moving that turn. 3. Can a Maseitai ever undratp? A: No, unless another Maseitai's ability allows this. For example, Nemchant, upon dratping un-dratps all the other playing Battle Pieces on the board. 4. Can you dratp the Battle Piece you just summoned? A: No, once you summon a Maseitai, that is the end of the turn. 5. Does the Gyullas Reduction Zone reduce the cost of Invoke effects? A: Yes. The cost to Invoke is half rounded up as long as the piece is on a square in the Gyullas Reduction Zone. Checks and Checkmates 1. Must a player declare "Check" if their opponent is in "Check"? A: Yes, you must declare check. 2. Can a player move into check? A: Yes, unlike Chess, a player may move into check. 3. If my opponent moves into check, do I have to tell them? A: No, since Navia Dratp has some similarities to Shogi, this is a legal move by your opponent. You may then take their Navia on your next turn and win the game. 4. If my Navia is in check and I have enough Gyullas to Navia Dratp, can I move out of check and then Navia Dratp? A: No, the Navia may not dratp on the turn she is in check. As long as your opponent keeps putting you Navia into check, you cannot dratp her. 5. If my Navia is in check but I can Navia Goal, can I move her to do that? A: Yes, as long as you have met the condition of having your Maseitai Keep empty, you may perform a Navia Goal while you are in check. Miscellaneous 1. When a Navia Guard is resurrected using a “line over” or Netol’s ability, does it need to be placed in an open square adjacent to the Navia? A: No, since that is not considered a Summon, the Navia Guard has to be placed on any open Summon Square on your side of the board (as directed). 2. When I perform a Navia Goal, does my opponent’s Maseitai Keep have to be empty? A: No, the only requirement for Navia Goal is for your Maseitai Keep to be empty. 3. Can I use my own self-painted Battle Piece as a duplicate Maseitai? --- A: In official sanctioned tournaments, to use duplicate Maseitai, you MUST have a chase-painted Maseitai from the Booster packs. You can use your self-painted one as a base Maseitai, but the duplicate must be factory painted. In local tournaments, you may set your own rules regarding self-painted Battle Pieces. 4. Can Masetai that have effects that change the positions of other Battle Pieces be used on themselves (like Olip and Gundrill)? A: No, Masetai can only use their effects on other Battle Pieces unless otherwise stated. 5. Can you summon Masetai to the Navia square (starting square of the Navia)? A: No, Masetai can only be summoned to an open Summoning square designated by the Summoning symbol (with the exception of Navia Guards).
